Buying a CarBuying and maintaining a car is expensive and time-consuming. The Glovebox Guide was first produced in 2001 to help new and used car buyers avoid common pitfalls in the marketplace. The Office of Fair Trading has updated this guide in partnership with the RACQ, MTA-Q and Queensland Transport to ensure Queenslanders continue to have access to reliable and useful information about buying and maintaining a car. The Glovebox Guide provides advice to help you through the purchase process for new and used cars as well as information about the consumer protection provided by Queensland law, repairs and servicing and what to do in the event of a crash. It also explains how to make a complaint if things go wrong and who to contact for advice and assistance. Keep this guide in your car so it’s handy when you need it most. For further details about the publications, guides, fact sheets or organisations mentioned in this booklet, see Getting Help and More Information (pag 62) or contact the Office of Fair Trading on 1300 658 030.
